I love Peter Hurley. He’s one of the best headshot photographers out there. I first stumbled upon him when the guys at fstopper did a piece on him (awesome link is awesome).
I love his style, he’s very direct. If a model doesn’t know how to smile, he just tells them that. Being awesome in real life doesn’t mean squat if you don’t look awesome on a photo. Often times your model needs to do an awkward pose or a weird expression just to appear normal on a photo. And Peter Hurley knows how to bring out the best in people. His headshots are superb.
Here is his latest video. We all hate the double chin photo. In this video Peter shows how to eliminate that double chin and how to achieve the perfect jawline. This is a great advice for photographers and for models. If shooting from the front – forehead out and down. If shooting from the side – ears towards the camera.
